You know you’re in India WHEN….
~You buy something only to discover after you’ve brought it home the electrical cord doesn’t match the outlet in your house!
~You have to hire 3 people to drill holes for hooks in your house with cement walls.
~You have to remove your shoes before walking into a filthy store. Ahhh, the life!
~You have to wait 3 hrs for people to arrive when you are invited as guest speaker.
~You turn on the sink in the bathroom in the morning and nothing happens. ;0)
~Your hubby corrects you for slipping and crossing your legs in a formal meeting.
~Putting on your sons shoes at the front door—neighbors are calling out size advice. ;0
Daily Life in India…
It is amazing we have been here 3 week already…time is flying. We are up to our heads in family, wedding prep-everyday running around bride and groom, helping them.
And up to our heads in house stuff….I do not recall if I shared already when we arrived we found their version of “done” was not the same as ours–certainly not livable—meaning water pipes not yet installed, open windows., missing doors. We were in the hotel 3 days while Paul ran around and worked around the clock putting lights in, trying to finish. The sewage smell filling the place–still does–is harder than anything else for me, but God is helping me. 🙂
Unfortunately, we have learned getting enough power for our place–(enough meaning to run a/c in two rooms, or a/c with water heater and laptops…any combos that are normal for us), will be a great deal of money–20,000 rupees—or $800 to install sufficient power. For now, we are just careful to run ONE thing at a time so we don’t blow up the place.
Ministry Updates and Activities
Paul and Molly
Ministry is also keeping us busy. I share on Fridays—mostly women—it’s fasting and prayer day where we are in the church from 9-2. Friday and Saturday night the church is full for prayer meetings and Paul will give a short challenge as there are more men are off work at that time. Sunday of course if our busiest day of the week…..3 services. Monday and Wednesday are Bible study nights.
SALT translation process is 3/4’s of the way done–we are excited!
Our ministry helpers just returned from the Common Wealth Games in Delhi…their stories of ministering to all the athletes and fans are wonderful. They are all pumped up.
Local Business to Fund Ministries’ Growth
Paul had the first ‘business and ministry meeting’ with them yesterday on our terrace. Their ideas include one that involves renting, (for now) out a shop to sell mortar. Paul is meeting with many for counsel on the location and other details. We are praying over this and appreciate your prayers too.
Answers To Prayer:
~God is sooo good—a wonderful family from City of Grace has provided us with a gorgeous Dell for our ministry and writing!! It turns on and off smoothly! They bought us a new laptop, fully loaded for our work, photos, and news letters. What a gift!! We were so humbled to receive this from them at their home just before leaving the country. Thank you, Lord for Your amazing provision just in time! We feel so humbled.
~It was a delightful surprise our first Sunday back to see how much our church is thriving…in our absence, God was still on the move here in India—He has confirmed it is HIS church! We were blessed with 360 filling our church Sunday. Please pray for our discipleship programs to take off!
Please Pray for Our Goals~
~A successful wedding for Paul’s baby sister—it will be huge and the entire brother’s have responsibilities—Paul’s is over the wedding feast. This is the focus now.
~After the wedding, (Oct. 25th), we will focus on our pastors conference in our church…building up dynamic leaders in truth and Godly character.
~ Our dates have changed now for the Women’s conference as our fall teams are re-worked. Pray that God’s will is done. That we will have the perfect week to bless and encourage many ladies in the Word of God. Pray for our guest speakers to arrive safely.
~ Paul and I are praying over a couple different invites—mission trips. May God’s will be done, may we have clarity, continued oneness and confirmation of His leading.
~ Please pray as Paul plans to meet with a few men over business ideas early November to help support our work. God willing, our desire is to start something before we leave India that will help sustain much of our local outreach here.
Used Cell Phones Needed!!!
Upgrading your phone? Please don’t throw it away! We can change out the U.S. to an Indian one here and make great use of it for our family and for our ministry. Please email us about collecting your old cell phones for us—AND IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT CARRIERS FOR INDIA—they are treasures here!!
