Greetings from South Africa!
Melissa Landis Has Arrived!!
Take Steve’s Photo Tour of Zulu land, South Africa
Melissa from Jackson, Wyoming has landed and recovered from jetlag. She has come to lead the youth in a soccer program and help with sports in general at our 3 local schools.
We have come to realize if we are going to be ministering in this community on a long term basis and want to make an impact, the
children have to be reached. Melissa is an exciting new step in that direction. We are currently building a small rondavel for her to live in. Her stay with us will be 8 months and we’re all praying for God’s plans for her after that.
Project Christmas Blessing is in full swing!
This is an exciting time for our community kids. This is the 4th annual PCB, with its inception in 2006 the last three years have been a great opportunity to love kids.
The drive behind PCB is to simply share the love of Jesus Christ with kids who wouldn’t otherwise be loved in this way at this time of year. Christmas time here in South Africa is huge vacation time. Many businesses shut down for up to a month. In the school system it serves as the end and beginning of a new school year. It’s the equivalent of a U.S. summer break.
We are taking the message of the birth of Jesus and celebrating Him and His salvation to a few hundred people. We go into three of our local schools that are within a kilometer of 7 Rivers Farm and we celebrate Jesus, His incarnation, His perfect life, His death and resurrection. We bring out big music equipment, we sing and dance and eat. The highlight is of course receiving a gift and oh what a gift it is! This sturdy cloth bag is full of goodies that are so precious to these children.
This year we’re praying fervently to partner with a Zulu man to deliver a Gospel message. Each year we’ve shared an evangelistic message, this year we’re hoping not to have any of that message lost in translation.
