School Fees
We thank the Lord for providing school fees & food for the Samaritan children. God has been gracious to the children and us. Some times I (John) have to work for people and organizations to get school fees for the Samaritan children. There are more needs for the children and these are presented to their father (John) and mother (Joyce). God has been and is faithful in providing these needs.
Education Material
On Thursday, the 13th October, 2011, we were busy loading the ACE educational literature which was given to us by Charles Hawkins (American) who are leaving the area. These materials are already used but we can use them for the orphaned children or the Lukulu West children, particularly where we need to set up the mission station, serving our people.
Philip Kazadi aged 16 (Pictured with John Jere, left)
He is intelligent, loyal, well disciplined. Philip is an up coming soccer star. He is genius and a good striker. He is still with us at the center, though tougher measures are coming under the new government who have vowed to domesticate all the UN treaties which Zambia has signed. Our nation under the new political leadership is secular, might be difficult to keep the bigger boys and girls in children’s home. All these bigger children may go to the streets. There are already more street children in the streets.
Dexter Mwale aged 19 (Pictured with John Jere, left)
Dexter was a street child. In 2003, I found him in Cairo road which is the main street of Lusaka. A bigger girl beat him so badly that when I saw what was happening, I was touched, went and stopped the fight. At that time, Dexter was only 10 years old and had just come from Choma which is a small town in southern province. I brought him to Samaritan Children’s Home and later took him to ministry of Community, Development and Social Services, to get the permit for us to take care of him
Gift Kapunga
Gift’s health has deteriorated so much that her CD4 is very low and so is her mother, Gertrude Kapunga.
Sarah Phiri
Sarah Phiri’s leg is bleeding, right where the operation was done.
Abraham, Lazarus and Miriam Lengwe
The mother and the remaining parent of Abraham, Lazarus and Miriam Lengwe passed on last month and was put to rest. She was HIV/AIDS positive. Miriam completed her education but Abraham and Lazarus are still in school.
Lydia Nswana, aged 8, was dumped by her grandfather as an infant and he has never come back to see or come to claim his grand daughter. Joyce & I are now thinking of officially adopting Lydia. The process is very long and the fact that the grandfather is still alive makes it little bit difficult. We shall send our application to ministry of community, social services & development. Will you please pray with us that God may allow us to raise the child in the fear of the Lord? The only parents she knows from six months old is John & Joyce Jere When the friends at school ask her about her parents, she says Bishop John & Joyce Jere are her parents.
Food Distribution for the Samaritan Children
The distribution of food is done on monthly basis by our team. On this particular day, Angel Mulyata was very instrumental to drive an old vehicle, loaded it with food for the Samaritan children. Joyce (the mother of 95 children), Mrs. Daka & Angel distributed the food to all our Samaritan Children. Thank you partners for the monthly food provision. Thank you for helping us feed the children.
Prayer Requests
- Will you please pray for Gift and her mother who are HIV/AIDS positive? Their health fluctuates more often.
- Will you please pray for the health of all the Samaritan children, that God may protect them from all the corruption of the world and that they may concentrate on their God and education?
- Will you please, pray for Abraham, Lazarus and Miriam who just lost their last parent to HIV/AIDS. They need God’s comfort.
