South Sudan
by Jahim Buli
Before December 2016 there was a plan by the rebels to attack the capital of South Sudan, Juba, before Christmas. The government was preparing for a wide-scale war with rebels. We saw movement of army and their weapons. It was not rumours anymore. It was real. We could see it and feel it.
As a result, of that many people have run to Uganda, Kenya and Khartoum. Pastors from New Life and other churches have gone to Uganda and Kenya. Some of my friends and colleague call, telling to take my family out of Juba. Otherwise, " you and your family will get killed in Juba, get your family out," they told me.
My answer to them was that, if the Lord wants us to die, we will die - even if we run out of South Sudan - still we will die. "I am going no where," I told my friends.
With the remaining church members in the church, I as pastor and leader, declared the whole month of October for the whole church to fast and pray for the whole country. "Who can tell if God will will turn and repent, and turn away from His fierce anger, that we perish not." Jonah 3:9
Again, in November I was privileged to talk to the pastors of about eight churches to fast and pray for the city and nation for one week. They did indeed harken to my request, and we did fast for one week in November.
The Lord indeed answers our prayers!
We had a peaceful Christmas and New Year. God use the President to take serious measures and ordered the army to keep and protect civilians during Christmas.
He also ordered for search of illegal guns in the hand of unauthorized personal. Usually, civilians have no good relationship with the army because the national army are the ones committing crimes, but now a good relationship is developing with the army again.
During the house to house search they have arrested over 500 criminals and over 1500 guns collected.
Every year during Christmas and New Year you hear random guns shot and some people got killed, but this year we had a peaceful new year.
Our God is a God who answers us.
If you have problems difficulties in life turn your face to God in prayers who knows the Lord will hear your prayers and give you hope. Keep trusting Him in the difficult time. Don't lose hope, He is there for you waiting for you to call Him.
What are you waiting for? Call Him today!!!!!
