Poland
My name is Mateusz. I am 29 years old and I come from Malbork, Poland. I arrived at the New Life Center on February 18, 2016. Before I made the decision to seek help, various addictions controlled me in every aspect of my life: from alcohol, to drugs, to gambling.
My dependence on them determined the direction of my life.
As a result of this, I lost everything: my home, my family relationships with siblings and Mum deteriorated. I had to move away from them. I could not look at them in the eyes or speak to them normally.

Going forward, I also lost connection with my daughter – with whom I had been trying to build a parental bond with for a few years. I lost my job, face and dignity.
Staying at the New Life Center helps you reevaluate your life. They help you take stock. The love, support and interest I receive at the Centre helps bring hope and enables me to have a new perspective on life.

I have now been able to get back in contact and regain a relationship with my family. We can have “normal” conversations now. I'm starting to build a new relationship with my daughter (learning that she remembers and misses me motivates me even further).
I’ve started sorting out my outstanding legal matters. In a few days I will be able to commence work again, legally. This is another new phase of life, which brings me joy.
But the most important thing in my life is to build a relationship with God, strengthen it every day, and grow under his guidance and direction. As the Scripture says, "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.”
