Poland
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has been going on for years, and many Ukrainians have been seeking a better life in Poland.
Piotr Zaremba's church, K5N, has been welcoming Ukrainians for quite some time, and many have joined the church.
One Ukrainian who has been in Poland for 3-4 years has been on the phone non-stop since the invasion with friends and family in Ukraine as they share their struggles and needs.
The civilians left in Ukraine say they need first aid supplies, bandages and protective gear, like helmets and vests.
The K5N Church sprang into action, collecting funds, purchasing and transporting about $5,000 USD worth of supplies to Ukraine. We're told the supplies should arrive at their destination in about 24 hours.
"We choose to protect the husbands [left behind in Ukraine] and kids of Ukrainian refugees," Piotr said when we spoke with him on the phone yesterday - it was late in the night in Poland.
Their work is cut out for them. Piotr also mentioned a situation with one of the families from Ukraine that the church is helping.
The family they were staying with had to call the police because the wife and mother was having an emotional breakdown. Her husband and kids were sick. She'd been displaced, staying with strangers in a strange land.
Piotr's wife, Krystyna (pictured left) was on the phone as we spoke with Piotr trying to work through the options for helping this mother.
The immediate needs of the victims are physical aid, but they currently need - and will need - much more than that as the psychological ramifications seep to the surface.
Thankfully, Piotr and his church are ready and available to meet their deepest need - news of and encouragement in Christ, as we help them with the resources they need.
