That's how we met Christine.
Christine’s father died when she was four. To provide for Christine and her twin sister, their mother made alcohol.
When Christine was 14, like many youth with nowhere to turn in the chaos of South Sudan, she joined a gang and started using drugs and alcohol. She dropped out of school. At night, she would sit with others from her gang by the roadside to loot those who passed by.
Then, Christine encountered Jesus through an open air preaching outreach of the church planted by a group that includes our South Sudanese partners, Vicky Waraka and Lazarus Yezinai.
Christine responded to the preaching, confessed her sin and received Jesus as her Savior! Right away, she joined the church and began growing in Christ. Today she is using her gifts as a vocalist to lead worship at Sunday gatherings.
Christine is one of a group of orphans, thoughtfully identified by our South Sudanese partner, Lazarus, to recieve help with school fees, discipleship. Through Lazarus' ministry, the orphans' families are strengthened with the Word of God and discipled, too.
