ITMI’s Mark and Cindi Parris and Durbanville Community Church have identified breaking the negative cycle of poor education as a key opportunity to effect significant change in underdeveloped communities in the Western Cape, South Africa. Starting in Stone Hill, this initiative would set up a tutoring center where South African youth from two impoverished settlements can access an entire curriculum for grades 1-12, individualized for them delivered via videos on tablets. In other communities where this system has been used, the students’ grades have improved dramatically, allowing them to pass their respective year levels and eventually be able to study after school.
