A Travel Update from Steve in Uganda
Earlier this week, ITMI Director, Steve Evers and Ugandan partner, Muhindo Kawede, set out to visit the International School of Missions land. Muhindo Kawede ministers through the International School of Missions, a school founded to help meet the need for pastors in Africa that are equipped with doctrinally sound training.
Steve described the trip like this:
They walked down to the dock and boarded a long, wooden boat that had tall sides. The trip across the lake takes about 20-30 minutes, but about 4 minutes into the trip, the boat motor stopped.
He watched as they tried and tried to start it, and then watched as one of the workers pour gasoline into the tank…yep, out of gas.
When they reached the shore side, they got on motor bikes (street tires on dirt roads, no helmets) and off they went. At one point he actually asked his driver to slow down (when you are a dirt bike rider, you know what can happen!)
When they arrived at the village, the students met them with a warm welcome. (Side note – Steve had taken some pillowcase dresses with him and was able to give them to some dear little girls).
A Birthday “Treat”
While in Uganda, Steve celebrated his birthday. For a “treat” he went to a little store near Kawede’s home and purchased some ice cream cups and brought them back to Kawede’s and the family sat around the table and shared them. Man, do we take birthday celebrations for granted here.
The emails and messages he got from you were “like nuggets of pearls” to him being away from home. Thank you for making him feel loved even more!
Steve thanks you so much for your prayers for him. All that is accomplished for the Kingdom, you are a part of, he just happens to be the one to go.
Thank you!
