Zambia
Mary Savu Mbi lives in the remote Zambian village of Kanjachi. She is part of one of Johan and Lesley Leach’s Dorcas teams in her village.
The Dorcas teams play a vital role in making a real and practical difference in the lives of orphans, widows and the aged. Like their namesake, these women care for those who need all kinds of help.
They’ve been equipped by ITMI partners, Johan and Lesley, to fulfill this calling and to share the Gospel with those they serve.

“The love of God is manifest through these ladies as they diligently sacrifice daily in tending the vulnerable,” Johan says.
Ruffled Feathers
While Mary’s daughter was sick, she was unjustly indicted for witchcraft and trying to kill her daughter.
“When you hear that a Dorcas lady has been accused of being a witch we know she is ruffling the feathers of the local witch-doctor,” Johan writes.
Pastor Colin and two other evangelists deployed from Chavuma to Kanjachi village. Pastor Colin is one of Johan’s co-laborers in bringing the Good News to the remote and isolated villages across the Zambezi River from their home in Chavuma.
Their strategy? Dispense the Good News through the area, teaching the Church to:
- Walk in Christ’s victory over fear and death.
- Stand up against the false accusations united as one Church.
- Speak out against the lies and corruption of the witch doctor.
They did a lot of prayer and intercession, showed the Jesus Film and visited various congregation members. Over one hundred people attended the showing of the Jesus film.

The next day Dennes Kayombo and Enock Njombi repented of their past and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into their lives!
On return from the outreach, it was jubilantly reported that Mary stated she has “no fear” to work for the Lord in her area. And, praise the Lord, Mary’s daughter is recovering from her illness and back on her feet.
“All praise to our King!” says Johan.
There’s More!
Equipping and empowering nationals, like Pastor Colin, to teach the local church to handle such cultural situations Biblically is one step closer to Johan’s vision of saturating the area with the Good News!
