David's Club: A Reason to Say "No" to Drugs and Alcohol
David's Club was one of the first things Bread of Life's Tomek Jezyk organized in Kalisz, Poland. Broken-hearted for the kids on the streets, he wanted to give them a good reason to say no to drugs and alcohol - and yes to Jesus.
So Tomek began teaching them martial arts. A few years later, around 250 underprivileged and street kids participate in "David's Club."
But the aim of David's Club isn't just to get kids to avoid drugs and alcohol. The goal is that they would say "yes!" to something that is worth living for: Jesus.
Summer Camp: An Opportunity to Share Some More.
Last month, a team from Sun Valley Community Church partnered with Bread of Life to put on a week-long summer camp for 21 kids from David's Club.
A week-long camp provided opportunities to go a bit deeper, to bond a bit stronger, and to share a bit more about Jesus. During the week, the 21 not-yet-Christian kids heard Bibles stories and testimonies of How Jesus changed the lives of the SVCC team and gave them true hope.
Hungry for the Word
Apparently, the campers were hungry for God's Word!
Tomek shared, "As a staff we had bible time about 22 o' clock, but some kids want to spend time with us, because they were hungry for Word. Finally in our bible study attend almost all kids."
These events couldn't happen without supporters. They also couldn't happen without the teams that give their vacations to serve and love in Jesus' name.
Bread of Life relies on teams like this one each summer to accomplish lots of kingdom goals. Want to partner with Bread of Life in a hands-on way next summer?
