Going Through the Motions
Have you ever gone through the motions of a task, only to realize you haven't really accomplished your purpose. Ever gone to the grocery store for an urgently needed item then switched to auto-pilot while inside and forgot the thing you came for?
The people of Poland are good at checking the "religion" boxes. They dutifully do the religious tasks they know they "should" do. But this really does more harm than good.
Most don't think they need anything beyond checking the boxes to be saved.
And even if they know, deep down, that adhering to religious dos and don'ts isn't dealing with their sin problem, they aren't aware that the answer is a Savior who died for them and pursues a loving relationship with them.
It's a tough demographic to reach, but ITMI's Andrew and Anna Gorski have been given a myriad of wonderfully creative and effective ways to reach them. Lately, it seems the more they reach, the more opportunities they have to reach even more!
And in a country where everybody feels they've checked the "religion" box, but most don't have a relationship with Jesus, there are so many worthwhile places to invest time and energy.
Three Prayer Requests from the Gorskis
1- The provision of a believing nanny.
There are no preschool opportunities nearby for Andrew and Anna's youngest child. If God were to provide a nanny that could help Anna out, she could be freed up for a new ministry opportunity.
Anna's New Opportunity - A Door Opening to Reach Many
Anna has written a play that helps Polish people understand the Gospel.
It was very well received on a small scale. Anna would like to have time to hone this skill to reach farther into the hearts and minds of a wider audience of Polish people with the Gospel.
This ministry has the potential to reach into many places where there are people who would be surprised to learn that Jesus offers them forgiveness and pursues a personal relationship with them.
Andrew and Anna are prayerfully waiting for God to lead them in this possibility.
2- Wisdom in prioritizing and decision-making.
"We are involved in 5N, Gospel Joy, planting new groups, theater ministry, and trying to become a pastor," Andrew said.
Enough said, Andrew. That's a lot for one father of three!
They've trained countless leaders within Gospel Joy, but they've also been effective at one-on-one discipleship, seeing people around them saved through meeting one-on-one and discussing spiritual things, reading the Bible and reaching out together.
In addition to his family's ministries, Andrew is part of a group led by ITMI's Piotr Zaremba, that receives unofficial training for pastoral ministry. Andrew knows this will be helpful as he shepherds and leads the leaders who are reaching and discipling baby believers.
Andrew is the Director of Gospel Joy Workshops and Evangelism.
3- For Anna's brother, Jakub.
After Anna came to faith, her mother also gave her life to Jesus not long after Andrew and Anna married. Last year, Anna led Jakub's wife, Gosia to faith. A month ago Jakub and Gosia's entire apartment burned and they’re going through very hard time right now.
Andrew says, "We’re intentional on spending time with them now, praying for his open heart."
What This Means for You
Andrew and Anna have been given a unique and exciting opportunity to reach an audience that is tough to penetrate. But they can't do it without us. Without you.
Thanks for partnering with us. With the Gorskis. With God on His mission to redeem and restore His world.
