South Sudan
It was the middle of rainy season in South Sudan...
It was the middle of the rainy season in South Sudan when ITMI's Vicky Waraka and six others from Revival and Fire Church set out for the village of Lyoba.
They were transporting the body of a friend who passed away back to his village for burial and a funeral. All except the driver of the first vehicle, which was carrying the body, were riding as passengers in a second vehicle.
Before reaching the village, the vehicle carrying the deceased got stuck in the mud.

So the muddy adventure began!

The passengers venture into the mud to deal with the stuck vehicle.

The passengers push the second vehicle out of the mud.

Everyone got muddy, but they pushed the vehicle out!

Smiling through the challenges!

Reaching the Destination
Despite the challenges, Vicky's group made it to the Lyoba, where the funeral was to be held.
It was an opportunity for these believers and leaders from Revival and Fire Church, where Vicky is a leader, to offer hope to the hurting through their Gospel message.

The funeral ceremony.

The villagers listen as the Gospel is shared.

David from Vicky's group (in the blue shirt) invites the villagers to give their lives to Jesus.

Many young men, women and elders came forward to give their lives to Christ.

The village responds to the invitation.

After excess water from the rainy season was removed from the grave, the coffin was lowered and the ceremony ended.
Praise the Lord for those who responded to David's invitation to follow Jesus!
This is the kind of never-off-the-clock believer Vicky is.
Her entire life is devoted to serving Jesus, and pointing people to Him.
Officially, her ministry is a counseling ministry. She meets with groups and individuals to point them to the Gospel and how it impacts their immediate situations and needs.
But unofficially, she ministers and shares Christ even in the margins of her personal life. She's opened up her home to several young women who were in need of safe places to stay.
No matter where she goes, she has an eye for those who need Jesus and she shares it with them - the market, a friend's funeral or just walking through a neighborhood.
Your support of Vicky means this kind of faithful, godly national is in and among the people of South Sudan, bringing hope and the Gospel.
