Hannah and Peter are optometrists in Poznan, Poland. But for the last 10 years, they’ve done more than serve their patients well through ordinary careers. Ten years ago, ITMI’s Richard and Brooke Nungesser helped Peter and Hannah go from “ordinary to extraordinary” through the ministry of the Bread of Life Foundation.
“I’m sorry. We’re closed,” said Dr. Kuhn as he locked the doors to the Medical Clinic. The man who had approached him as he was leaving had said his son had a headache. It had been a long day for Dr. Kuhn, and he was ready to get home. He turned to walk away. But the story doesn’t end there.
I want to be one of these boys. I don’t know their names, but I know their actions. They are probably like most any boy who lives in Zimbabwe today. Loves to play football (soccer), gets into mischief, wishes for a chance to go to school, and goes to bed hungry way more than they want and way more than we experience here in the States. We were sure we won the battle for her medication to be re-funded by the Polish Socialized Medical Care. A positive decision on the part of the Polish Medical Authorities was made last spring. The re-fund plan was to be introduced last June, then August, then October, then November. Now…
MANN, Worldwide has donated the bus and the engineering to customize it to be a mobile clinic. Thanks to the Nungessers’ work with Poznan International Church, there are doctors of all nationalities lining up to donate their expertise. All Bread of Life has to provide is the equipment to outfit the mobile clinic. The mobile clinic will be able to travel all over Europe, offering new sight to the poorest of the poor.
