A baby goat is much more than just a cute photo for Shahid Bashir.
It represents a few very important things.
It’s the fruit of the labor he’s invested in caring for the pair of goats he received as part of ITMI’s Goat Project in August 2023.
The baby goat also means provision for his family - provision that is direly needed.
The goat project aims to provide sustainable income for believers in Pakistan. Participants learn Biblical financial principles of giving, saving, investing, and spending wisely, then are granted a pair of goats where they can put these principles to practice. They have regular contact with program administrators, who help them overcome challenges they may encounter.
In August 2023, five needy families received a pair of higher quality goats, able to produce culturally valued offspring at a greater rate.
They have worked hard to care for the goats, feed them well, and even knit them sweaters to protect them from the cold!
In January, Razaq Masih’s goat gave birth to a baby goat!
Astute ITMI Monthly readers may remember the story of Shahid Bashir and his son from our September 2023 issue of ITMI Monthly.
Shahid and his son are the only Christians in their village, and have been faithful in demonstrating Christ to their neighbors. Receiving the goats worked like a catalyst, creating the opportunity for a conversation with one of his neighbors about God’s provision.
In February, Shahid’s goat had a miscarriage but quickly became pregnant again. That baby was born in April!
Through these challenges, Abid and his team visit the participants and discuss God’s Word as it relates to what is happening in their lives and with the goats.
Abid and his team continue to meet with and disciple new and existing goat owners as they grow in God’s Word together.
